I was just trying this out but it was all happening the opposite way, as in....the Hue/Saturation layer took the colour out of everything, and then painting over the teeth with black made them more colourful again. Are my PS settings backwards or something?

complicated to how easy it is....
just select the teeth with the lasso tool.. go to image -> adjustments -> hue/saturation
where is master, select yellow... then config lightness all to the right.... and thats all

No. The tutorial did not give explanation on where to mask and where not to mask.
